Remember, remember, the, er, 24th July 2015, for not only is that the fateful day on which we celebrated FIVE WHOLE YEARS of having One Direction in our lives, but it was also the day that something extra special happened.

Five words: Liam. Payne. Zayn. Malik. TWITTER.

Things you will need before reading this Twitter exchange: Tissues, chocolate, a pillow and blanket (for lying on the cold hard ground), a first-aid kit and One Direction’s entire back catalogue. Got them all? Fab.

Yep, unless you were living under a boulder yesterday, you’ll know that the fandom spent the day celebrating five glorious years of 1D, with the boys themselves tweeting to show fans how appreciated they are.

Louis Tomlinson, for example, got as many ‘thank you-s’ in one tweet as possible, while Harry Styles signed off with the ever-beautiful: ‘All the love’.

Niall Horan popped in to commemorate the big day as well, tweeting: “Thank you so much for what you’ve done for us so far, what an incredible journey it’s been , wish we could thank you all.

“You guys have changed our lives and we all love you so much ! Best fans on the planet , easy!”, before thanking all the boys, too.

So many emotions, so little time.

Then, we were left with the big questions: How many pages would Liam’s Twitlonger tribute be AND would Zayn drop by to acknowledge all of this.

The answers? Erm, a disappointing 0 and a big fat YES.

In fact, we can kill both birds with one stone because, after Payno tweeted his own message of thanks, the most wondrously glorious Ziam moment happened and if we’re honest, it made us cry just a little bit.

Captain Payno first tweeted: “Wowwwww 5 years 5 boys what an amazing journey I couldn’t thank you all ever enough and thank you Louis Niall Harry and zayn for everything [sic].

“Thanks for all the memories boys I love you all.”

Nice, right? Zayn then decided to show how much he appreciated the love, despite leaving the band this year, replying: “thanks bro ! x.”
