Nigeria’s Senators and House of Representatives members have reportedly received a sum of N93 million as recess allowance.
The new legislators were sworn in on June 9, 2015 and have adjourned twice since then.
They are currently on a six-week recess which they embarked upon on August 13 and will resume on September 29
The recess allowance is 10 percent of the annual basic salary of the legislators, a total sum of N93,307,662, according to Daily Trust.
Following a recent uproar, the legislators promised to slash their salaries but this move has been subsequently rejected by the Senate.
