A total of four soldiers of the Nigerian Army attached to the Joint Military Task Force Base in Bayelsa State and a policeman have been murdered by sea pirates.
According to a report by The Punch, the sea pirates arrived the Joint Military Task Force Base at Nembe Waterfront in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State in five speedboats and attacked the military personnel on duty.
The report further noted that the incident which occurred at about 11.30pm on Friday, August 7, 2015 has seen the police authorities and JTF renewing their mission to arrest and keep the town safe.
It was further gathered that the daredevil gunmen carted away two guns and other arms from the base after the attack.
Police authorities in the state represented by the Public Relations Officer, Asnim Butswat confirmed the incident saying 'A combined team of the JTF, Marine Police and the Navy are combing the creeks to recover the arms and arrest the culprits.'
